Are You Kidding Me?

This is EXACTLY the type of thing I vowed never to post.  "My blog is going to be different" I said.  "Oh, my entries will actually have substance and inspire others to greatness" I said.  What platitudes.  Well , look at me now.

For the life of me, I don't remember how I got on the subject.  But, I began looking for a dignified name for "throwing up" in order to discuss it intellectually; and it took on a life of its own. In the event that you remotely care, here are some comical alternatives (in no particular order):

screamin at the ground

Heeeeeeeeeres Johnny

captain chunks

Technicolour Yawn

stomach tsunami

hork up your toenails

Liquid Burp

yodel groceries

Chummin

driving the porcelain bus

Visiting Raaaalph & Earrrrl in the Buuuuuuick

Call Ralph on the big white telephone

vomitosis on roses

deja food

thanking the toilet

Bolus Back Up

reverse peristalsis

Talking Norwegian

howling at the moon

Working the Abs

Being Momma Bird

gargling the gouda

deja spew

Pitching your porridge

Barking at the Ants

liquid laugh

shout at your shoes

Inspiring, isn't it?  Now, go be great!!!!

My peeps.

I so grateful for what the Lord is doing in their lives.  They are beginning to discern what is solid biblical teaching and what is fluff.  The weekend was "fun" but the main teaching time was disappointing.  The speaker rarely opened the Word of God.  One session he never even picked up the bible!!!  Amazing and tragic.

Without the Word of God there is NO life change or renewing of the mind or spiritual growth or maturing.  Without the word these  events simply become spiritual pep rallys that seem energizing at the time but a week later the reality sets in that there was no change in peoples lives.  Praise God for His divine revelation to us in the Word and in the Lord Jesus Christ, God Himself!!

Ruth and I had the privilege of seeing Ravi Zacharias during a missions conference not long ago.  Its incredible how the Lord uses him to confront the ideas behind atheism, humanism, various religious philosophies, etc...  Also, hearing about the different world leaders and people of prominence and position that Ravi has had the opportunity to speak to and with is amazes me.  He told one story of speaking with Kofi Annan that impressed upon me that our God is seriously at work everywhere and even the "unreachable" are being reached with hope and truth.

The main idea I came away with after his talk was that more than ever this generation requires not only a gospel that is heard but one that is visibly seen in the lives of those who profess it.

On a different note, I was "accosted" by a Church of Christ pastor at Panera.  It was sort of surreal.  I saw he had a bible open and seemed to be studying so I introduced myself simply wanting to encourage a brother in Christ.  What I got was a flurry of works based salvation rhetoric and scriptures put forth in an arrogant and unloving manner.  I had to ask him to stop and thanked him.  Then he threw hot coffee in my face and spit in my food......ok, so I made that last part up.  Its gettin unreasonably serious here.

P.S.  Sadly enough I'm hooked on sudokus....and I'm horrible at 'em.  Just pray.
